A History of Partnerships

Vidant Health and East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine (BSOM) have enjoyed a unique relationship since the early 1970s. Together, we have trained thousands of physicians, most of whom practice in the state. Because of unique mission and geography, we collectively care for many citizens who are medically fragile and socioeconomically challenged. The current financial outlook in health care includes declining reimbursements and fewer dollars from the state.

This places in jeopardy the work of BSOM and Vidant in training physicians and creating the professional medical workforce for the future. We’re committed to keeping jobs and high-quality health care in the East, provided by people who have lived and worked in our communities for decades. Through Project Unify, we are building a fully-integrated, 800 physician multispecialty practice that will be successful for decades to come.
